Medical Technology These Days

My brother was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes (type one)in December of 2008. He was rushed to Childrens Hospital in Dallas with his blood sugar at 821. He is very lucky to be alive. With regular checkups with our family doctor, who detected that he was diabetic, our doctor told us of a procedure that is being expieremented in Canada.  It consists of finding an exact cell match (of some sort, im not exactly sure)  and implant those cells from the donor (i would most likely be the exact match) into the diabetic patient. In hopes that the body will take and then start to reproduce cells in order for the body to reproduce insulin… and not distroy it. This procedure may come to the U.S. in 10-15 yrs, so our doctor says.
